The June 2023 NSE Shout-Out goes to Luis Rodriguez, 6th-12th grade Spanish teacher at McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Teacher Luis was nominated by one of his students, who expressed that “Mr. Rodriguez told in August that we would be speaking Spanish by December. Hard to believe, but through full immersion and his unique method of teaching, he was right! He not only teaches the Spanish language, but also introduces us to various Spanish-speaking cultures. His enthusiasm is contagious and because of him, I will continue to take Spanish throughout my four years of high school. I am so grateful for Mr. Rodriguez and the foreign language department at McCallie.”
Teacher Luis has been teaching for 20 years, including teaching Spanish for 10 years at McCallie School. He loves his family, coaching rock climbing and mountain climbing, and also sponsors the Natural Conservation Group at his school.
