Medals are awarded based on national percentile ranking, with the 99th percentile being the highest.
Students with outstanding scores on the National Spanish Exam (NSE) and/or the National Portuguese Exam (NPE) are recognized as follows:

Premio de Oro

Gold medals are awarded to students who score at or above the 95th percentile. The 99th percentile is the highest rank.

Premio de Plata

Silver medals are awarded to students who score from the 85th through the 94th percentiles.

Premio de Bronce

Bronze medals are awarded to students who score from the 75th through the 84th percentiles.

Mención Honorífica

Students scoring from the 50th through the 74th percentiles.
Honorable Mention medals are available for purchase at www.nse-store.com.

Perfect Score

Perfect Score medals are awarded to students who answer every question correctly.

*Although this information provides guidance on deciphering student placement on the NSC, the NSE staff insists that educators await the release of official results reports to proctoring teachers before announcing prizes to their students.
