 This November Shout-Out goes to a teacher of both Portuguese and Spanish, Señora Augusta Costa of Mt. Hope High School from Bristol, Rhode Island!

Her Principal, Deborah DiBiase, at Mt. Hope says the following about Señora Costa:

 “To say that Augusta is a versatile teacher would be an understatement: she has taught both Portuguese and Spanish...ranging from middle school  through Advanced Placement. Augusta matches her passion for language & culture with pedagogical expertise and a genuine love for her  students. She is a Co-Founder of the MHHS World Language Honor Society, she has participated in the implementation of our Seal of Biliteracy  program and she has led multiple trips abroad. Her designs have led to the overall success of the World Language Department. With dedication and  integrity, Señora Costa continues to share her love of the Portuguese & Spanish languages and cultures and to inspire both teachers and students to reach new levels of excellence.”

This month our Shout-Out honors National Teach Portuguese Week (Nov 1, 2021 to Nov 5, 2021). The NSE is thankful to all teachers who go above and beyond. This October Shout-Out goes to Profesor Cristiano Libório at Science Park High School in Newark, New Jersey

Mr. Garcia, a colleague, states that “Profesor Libório has been a Portuguese teacher of all levels (including International Baccalaureate I & II) at SPHS since 2006 and he is a co-sponsor of their Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica. He has coached boy’s soccer and volleyball and even organized fundraisers with the SHH such as a local Breast Cancer Walk and donations to Associated Humane Societies. He even won an International Contest that paid to take his students to Portugal! He consistently finds ways to engage his students to become lifelong learners and he is very involved in all aspects of the school and culture.”
